Notice of Calamus Special Election
Notice is hereby given that an election, being the Special Election of the City of Calamus, County of Clinton, State of Iowa, has been called and ordered to be held Tuesday, February 26, 2019. At said election one (1) council member to fill a vacancy will be elected.
Polls will be open from 12:00 p.m. (noon) until 8:00 p.m. in the evening of the same day.
Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot. Voters who are not pre-registered – such as voters registering to vote on election day – and voters changing precincts must also provide proof of residence. A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence if required) 1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct, 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents, or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by February 28, 2019, at 12:00 p.m. (noon). Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. Absentee and special voter ballots will be counted at the Charles A. Sheridan Building, 405 20th Ave. N., Clinton. Paper ballots will be used at the election and the ballot is substantially as printed.
At the election all of the qualified voters of the City of Calamus are hereby notified to appear at the time and place. All voters are also advised as to the requirements of voter registration in order to be eligible to vote at the election.
