Special Election
A Special Election is any election that is not regularly scheduled. A special election may be held for any purpose authorized or required by law; often to fill a vacancy or for a public measure.
The Special Election for the Central DeWitt Community School District will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. Polling places will be open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Our office has received petition paperwork from the eligible electors of the Central DeWitt Community School District calling for a Special Election to be held in order to vote on the current vacant seat caused by the resignation of a board member.
Since this is a district wide election, the recently appointed seat (at the end of 2024) for Central DeWitt School Board will also need to appear on this ballot. i.e. 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐰𝐨 𝙨𝙚𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝐓𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐲 𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐛𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐭.
On Election Night, results will be updated every 15 minutes after polls close until all precincts report.
Pre-Registration deadline for voter registration closes at 5:00pm Monday, March 24. Persons wishing to participate in this election who register to vote after March 24 will be required to provide proof of identification (i.e. current and valid photo identification card with an expiration date), AND proof of residency in their voting precinct, when they go to the polls on election day, or when they request an absentee ballot in-person. Other provisions may also apply. Persons not registered to vote by March 24, should expect a longer processing time at the polls on election day.
